My first macro lens was the Canon EF-S 60mm. This lens really did perform quite well. Very sharp, light and a true go anywhere piece of glass, however it does not work on full frame. And the truth is that full-frame cameras give you enhanced depth of field and better colour rendition in lower light which makes them the better option for this type of shooting. So I decided to get the 100mm L version with image stabiliser. The truth is the non-L, non -image-stabilised cheaper Canon 100mm is optically a great lens, but I wanted the IS function since I don\u2019t always have a tripod with me when the moment arrives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Angle and lighting are very important for these tiny critters. Off camera flash seems to work best.
